Q: What Type of Game Servers do you currently Host?
We currently host the following game servers:
Counter-Strike 1.6
Counter-Strike Source
Day of Defeat
Day of Defeat Source
Team Fortress Classic
Team Fortress 2
Counter-Strike: CZ
Call of Duty 4

Q: What type of servers are being used for the games?
Dual Intel Xeon x5355 (quad-core) processors (eight cores total)
15,000 RPM hard drives
6 GB RAM
100mps for all of our loacations, Premium locations will have higher transfer speeds.

Q: What type of access do I have to my game once it is purchased?
All game servers come with a Control Panel and FTP access.

Q: How many game servers are run on the same machine?
We will only run as many servers on one machine as is possible without causing lag. This generally means between five and ten. You will be able to monitor the CPU usage, memory usage, and bandwidth usage in your control panel under server health, so you will never be in the dark as far as how much of our resources are being used. (And if you think your server is lagging because of insufficient resources, please contact us so that we can move you to a less-utilized server and/or increase your bandwidth).

Q: Is it possible to change the Mod that I am currently running?
Yes you are able to change your mod at anytime. You will need to log into your account on the main site and then choose the "Change Order" button and fill out the form with all the information.

Q: Am I able to name my server what I want
Yes, all you need to do is edit the server configuration file to match the name that you want. You do not require you to use co-branding either.

Q: Do the servers run under a Linux or Windows environment?
Majority of the servers run under a win32 OS. This is due to stability and how the games were written. Some servers are required to run under Linux such as 1000fps servers.

Q: How would I go about paying for my server?
We use Paypal to take all payments and to use subscriptions.

Q: Do you host team websites?
We do not currently do this, We are looking into this though and we will update everyone on our main site when/if we start.

Q: Do you charge a setup fee for your servers?
No we do not, We believe in cheap, fast performing servers. The only thing that you have to worry about is the once a month payment for the game server you purchase.

Q: How do I cancel my server with your hosting?
You will need to send a email to support@covertgameservers.com providing information on the type of server you had and your email account. After that you will then need to go to your Paypal account and cancel the subscription that you have with us. If you fail to cancel the subscription you may be charged again.

Q: How do I set rcon password on the game server?
You would simply edit the server.cfg and set rcon_password to what ever password you would like. The server automatically makes one when the server is made.

Q: How do i set the server name?
You would edit the server.cfg and set the hostname to whatever you would like.

Q: How do I password protect my server?
Edit server.cfg and add the following line to it.
sv_password "password"
The password will load on the next map change or server restart.

Q: How do I change the map cycle?
You will need to edit mapcycle.txt in the cstrike folder of your server. You can add or delete maps from here.

Q: How do I change the opening message (Message of the Day)?
You will need to edit motd.txt. You can use html inside this file.

Q: Can I use ping booster on my server?
The answer is No. This can cause other servers on the same box to experience lag and high latency. This is prohibited.

Q: How do I reset stats on my server?
With Statsme, you can use "rcon sm_clearrank". IF this does not work, you will need to use your FTP access to delete addons/statsme/statsme.log.
For Psychostats, there is an option to reset the stats on the Stats manager page in the control panel.
For csstats, use the command "rcon csstats_reset1", or, if that does not work, shut down the server and delete addons/amx/csstats.dat

Q: What maps are included with the Counter-Strike servers?
Majority of our servers come with basic maps, but some of the mods (CS 1.6, CS:S) come with extra 3rd party maps. These maps are included inside every default CS 1.6 server:

Q: What is FTP access mean?
FTP is "File Transfer Protocol". This gives you the ability to alter files on the game server.

Q: How do I gain access to my FTP for the server I have purchased?
You will need to log into your control panel and go to File Manager tab to get all the information you need.

Q: Can I use 3rd party applications to access my servers files?
Yes you can use other software such as cuteFTP or SmartFTP.

Q: If I do not want to use a 3rd party application how else can I add files to my server?
You can edit, upload, and delete files on your server from your Control Panel.
